Purple Microverse - Day 1

Here we go. Day one for these girls.

I transplanted the plants into the propagator when the taproots were 2-3” long. This is the minimum size I have successfully moved into the propagation tank using collars. I will publish another post soon detailing the tank and how it works. The propagation tank will be a print available to GHF Builder Patrons.

The tank works via ebb and flow circulation. It is filled with a solution mixed weak. Using less than 50% dosages of Dutch Pro nutrients the reservoir currently measures at 300 ppm.

The tank is lit with a simple 5w USB grow light. For the first 12 hrs the light was diffused with white dixie cups. After that the plants were exposed to the light at its lowest strength. The lights will remain on 24/7 while the plants are in the propagator. They will not see darkness until they are transplanted around day 7-10.

I did choose to cull one of the seedlings early. It was a bit small and probably was not reaching the water in the tank. After showing no growth in the first 24 hrs I chose to ditch her. The plan was always to take 2-4 of these to the finish line. I don’t mind losing one early.
